Privacy statement

This privacy statement outlines our practices concerning your information in relation to zero.govt.nz, also known as the Zero Data service and website, in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. It does not extend to any external sites you may access through Zero Data. Each site or service you visit using Zero Data may have its own privacy policy. The information we collect and use

When you browse websites via Zero Data, we will collect the following statistical information:

· Websites visited via the service

· Amount of data used

This information is collected by Te Whatu Ora to enable recharge of costs to participating agencies based on an apportionment of traffic. Only individuals who need access to this information will be granted access – these individuals may be from various agencies. The information collected is not linked to any individual and cannot be used to identify you.

If you voluntarily provide personal information (for example, through email feedback or online forms), we will keep that information secure. Any personal information supplied will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided, or otherwise permitted by the Privacy Act 2020 and will not be disclosed to any third party except where necessary for the provision of services, or as authorised or required by law.

Proxy Use

Zero Data acts as a gateway, or proxy, to provide free mobile access to selected essential online public information and services. All mobile data charges for accessing these websites are charged back to participating government agencies. The proxy does not record or store any directly identifiable personal information, and all information to and from the proxy is encrypted.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that are placed in your browser. At Zero Data, we employ cookies to obtain non-personally identifiable information about site usage to enhance our services.

The information we collect includes:

· The date and time you visited the site

· Pages you accessed on our site

· Search terms you used;

· Details about your operating system and web browser.

This data is collected and aggregated by Google Analytics, a measurement and research service.
